Sodium hydroxide pharma grade (NaOH)
CAS Number: 1310-73-2, Purity min. 97%

White flakes with no odour, also called caustic soda. Sodium hydroxide is an inorganic chemical compound in solid form and of hygroscopic properties. Caustic soda is perfectly soluble in water, forming soda lye, which is corrosive.
Sodium hydroxide in flakes, in comparison with pearls and micro-beads, dissolves into a lye form much faster and more efficiently. It should be remembered that the dissolution of the soda causes a strongly exothermic reaction (i.e. a heat releasing reaction) which poses a threat to safety, if not controlled.
NaOH is produced in the process of membrane electrolysis. Obtained product is characterised by high purity and quality confirmed by compliance with the 9.0 edition of European Pharmacopoeia. Sodium hydroxide Ph.Eur. is the equivalent of sodium hydroxide BP and sodium hydroxide NF.
Main benefits of Sodium Hydroxide produced by PCC Group:
- production process fulfil Kosher requirements,
- production process fulfil Halal requirements,
- production process fulfil GMO requirements,
- production process fulfil TSE/BSE requirements.
Sodium hydroxide pure is used in the manufacture of a wide range of pharmaceutical products, like polopyrin, salicylic acid, sulfonamides or iodoform. Sodium hydroxide pharma grade is perfect for the production of, among others, ointments, creams, gels, emulsions, capsules, tablets and liquids. NaOH of pharmaceutical quality is also used as a raw material (sodium carrier) in various kinds of syntheses.
